Miscellany given to Henry Fane by his father Sir Francis Fane [manuscript], compiled ca. 1655-1656.

A manual of aphorisms, anecdotes, verse from and about Holland, Germany, Italy, France and England intended to amuse his son while traveling on the Continent. It contains several references to Sir Thomas More and Sir Francis Bacon, a version of Shakespeare's epitaph (leaf 79v), a quotation from "Handsons prologue to a play in a village" (leaf 84), and is prefaced by a series of precepts written by various members of the family, 1570-1656 -- Sir Walter Mildmay, Mary Fane and Grace Mildmay -- ending with a dedication to his son Henry Fane at Grays Inn, London, signed: F. Fane, Fulbeck, August 20, 1663.
